Although many development projects in Kyrgyzstan are currently being conducted in the agricultural sector, none are focused on climate risk management (i.e. both climate-related disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation), otherwise known as “CRM”. The objective of this project is to strengthen the resilience of herder communities by improving Climate Risk Management (CRM) in Kyrgyzstan’s Suusamyr Valley. This project will enable stakeholders to overcome the main barriers through the implementation of strategic activities under the following three main outputs:
- Enabling environment created for integration of CRM at systemic, institutional and individual levels.
- Climate resilient pasture management demonstrated in the Suusamyr Valley.
- Knowledge Management and Lessons Learned for CRM.
Delivery of the project in 2011 - $87,200.
